Our Offertory this weekend, June 25th/26th, has two Intentions:  our regular Parish Support collection and the collection for the Annual Propagation of the Faith.  The basket will be passed twice.
Reflection:  The Scriptures today remind us that “we, many though we are, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf”.  How are we using our gifts of time and talent to build up the body of Christ?

Annual Propagation of the Faith – Appeal Today
Today, we have a visiting diocesan priest from the Society of St. James, Rev. Desmond Tynan, who will give us some insight into the state of the missions in South America.
The Society, founded by Cardinal Cushing in 1958, has about 40 members serving in Peru and Ecuador.  Each year a few of the members come north to spread the word about their missionary work and to appeal for donations.  Please be as generous as your means allow.  For more information on the Society of St. James visit their website: www.socstjames.com.

BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
First Reading:  Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14-16
The events in today’s reading take place as the Israelites are camped on the shore of the Jordan River ready to enter the Promised Land.  In his farewell speech, Moses makes it clear that when they settle in their new land, they must never forget all the wonderful things God did for them during their 40 years in the desert.
Second Reading:  1 Corinthians 10:16-17
The Jewish people believed that when they sacrificed an animal to God and then ate a portion of the sacrifice themselves, they were in communion with God to whom they had given the other portion.  Applying this to the Eucharist, Paul reminds us that when we receive Holy Communion, we become one with the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

A word about RCIA: RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, a process by which adults “after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God…..By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and…..will receive the sacraments fruitfully”.
The RCIA program includes: people who were never baptized; those baptized in another faith; and those who were baptized Catholic but have never received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.
If you are interested in the Catholic faith, or have a friend or relative who may be interested in making this journey of faith, please invite the person to contact Sister Jane at the rectory.
