Bulletin for Sunday, June 12

“We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life”
The power of the Resurrection story is so
overwhelming that it takes us 50 days to celebrate during
which time the Church continues initiating new members
through the Sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist and
Confirmation.  This all leads to the climax of the season,
Pentecost Sunday, when we welcome the presence of the
Holy Spirit into our assembly and into our lives.  It is the
Spirit that keeps the work of Christ alive within us.

A word about RCIA: RCIA is the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, a process
by which adults “after hearing the mystery of
Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek
the living God…..By God’s help they will be
strengthened spiritually during their
preparation and…..will receive the sacraments
fruitfully”.  The RCIA program includes:
people who were never baptized; those baptized in another
faith; and those who were baptized Catholic but have never
received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.
If you are interested in the Catholic faith, or have a
friend or relative who may be interested in making this
journey of faith, please invite the person to contact Sister
Jane at the rectory.

Our Offertory this weekend, June 11th/12th,
has two Intentions: our regular Parish Support
Collection and the Collection for the Seminarians.  The
basket will be passed once.  Next weekend, June
18th/19th, our second collection will be the Summer
Energy Collection.  The basket will be passed twice.  We thank
you for your generosity.
Reflection:  In the second reading today, St. Paul reminds the
Corinthians, “There are different gifts, but the same Spirit; there
are different ministries but the same Lord.”  How am I using my
gifts “for the common good”?

Cardinal Sean has written a Pastoral Letter on
Evangelization this Pentecost to all Catholics in the Archdiocese as
we move into the next phase of our Catholics Come Home
campaign.  The first phase involved television messages and parish
activities. The successive phases involve outreach on a more
personal and direct level by individual Catholics and through
organized parish evangelization activities.  Please read this pastoral
letter at: www.BostonCatholic.org/PenetcostLetter or on
www.CardinalSeansBlog.org

Through the waters of baptism, we welcome into the Catholic
Faith, Molly Kay Titemore.  Please keep little Molly, her parents
and godparents in your prayers as she begins her faith journey.

Jesus stood up and exclaimed, “Let anyone who thirsts
come to me and drink. As Scripture says:Rivers of living
water will flow from within him who believes in me.”He
said this in reference to the Spirit that those who came to
believe in him were to receive. – Jn 7:37b-39a
