A word about RCIA: RCIA is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, a process by which adults “after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God…..By God’s help they will be strengthened spiritually during their preparation and…..will receive the sacraments fruitfully”.  The RCIA program includes: people who were never baptized; those baptized in another faith; and those who were baptized Catholic but have never received the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.
If you are interested in the Catholic faith, or have a friend or relative who may be interested in making this journey of faith, please invite the person to contact Sister Jane at the rectory.

A Note of Thanks
We thank the Adult Choir for leading us in song throughout the year.
They have generously given their time for weekly rehearsals and singing during the 10am Mass. May they enjoy their summer break!  We will welcome their return in the fall.

Our Offertory this weekend, July 2nd/3rd, has one Intention:  our regular Parish Support Collection.  Next weekend, July 9th/10th, the second collection will be for Catholic University.  The basket will be passed once.  We thank you for your generosity.
Reflection:  “Let all Your works give You thanks, O Lord, and let Your faithful ones bless You”, says the Psalmist. Stewardship is this “attitude of gratitude” for the many gifts God has given us.
You now have the opportunity to have flowers placed on our altar in memory of loved ones.  The flower piece will be one basket placed in front of the main altar.
The parish makes arrangements for the flowers.  The name of your loved one and the donor will be placed in the bulletin for that weekend.  The donation is $50.00.  The Sundays of Advent and Lent are excluded as flowers are not permitted during these Liturgical seasons.  Please call the rectory if you are interested in donating flowers for a particular weekend.
This weekend, July 2nd/3rd, flowers have been placed on our altar in memory of Eleanor DeFelice by her loving daughter Susan.

Attention all Teens and Young Adults

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
First Reading:  Zechariah 9:9-10
In the last centuries before Christ, the Jewish people hoped for a triumphant Messiah king.  The prophet Zechariah spoke instead of a Messiah who would come not in splendor and glory with horses and chariots, but rather in meekness and peace, riding a common work animal.  All four evangelists will later apply this passage to the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem several days before his arrest.
Second Reading:  Romans 8:9, 11-13
Today we will begin five Sundays of readings from chapter eight of Paul’s letter to the Romans, a chapter which emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit.  Paul wants us to remember that the Spirit who will raise our bodies on the last day is the same Spirit who inspires us to holiness every day. Today Paul offers a sharp contrast between life in the flesh (meaning life prone to sin) and life in the Spirit.
