Print version of the bulletin

Today, we celebrate Father’s Day.  We honor our fathers and thank them for giving us life, for nurturing that life within us and for helping us to be all that we can be.  We pray for our fathers, those living and those who are deceased, at all the Masses.

HOMEBOUND PARISHIONERS

St. John’s Parish is blessed with many extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, many of whom bring Holy Communion to those who are unable to come to church on Sunday.  This is a wonderful ministry and truly connects our homebound parishioners with the rest of the worshipping community through the Eucharist.  We are always interested in identifying people who are homebound and who would like a visit from a Eucharistic Minister.  If you have family members who are homebound or know of parishioners who are homebound and desirous of receiving the Eucharist on a regular basis, please contact the rectory at 617 846-7400.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

We are updating our communion list for the homebound.  If you are presently bringing communion to anyone in the parish, please give Sister Jane their name, address and phone number.  Call 617 846-7400 or email:  j_iannaccone320@hotmail.com  Please note, if Sister Jane assigned a person to you, you do not need to respond.

ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

First Reading:  Ezekiel 17:22-24

Ezekiel was a major Old Testament prophet who ministered to the Jewish people exiled in Babylon.  He often used parables and dramatizations to convey his message.  In this passage, Ezekiel uses the image of trees to talk about the restoration of Israel and the fall of the Babylonian empire.

Second Reading:  2 Corinthians 5:6-10

We continue today to read from Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians.  In this section of the letter, Paul describes our life on earth as a pilgrimage home to heaven.

Gospel:  Mark 4:26-34 (seed grows by itself and the mustard seed)

Question of the Week

Adult:  What is the “good soil” that has allowed your faith to grow like the mustard seed and provide shelter for others?

Child:  How do you help your faith grow like the mustard seed?

PRAY FOR WORLD PEACE – PRAY THE ROSARY

“To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants.”- Mk 4:30-32b

Prayer for Our Troops

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us.

Bless them and their families

for the selfless acts they perform for us

in our time of need and Lord, give us peace.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Amen.
