ASH WEDNESDAY – MARCH 1ST, 2017

Distribution of ashes will take place as follows:

9:00am-Eucharist
3:00pm Liturgy of the Word (for children) 7:00pm Eucharist

Reflection for Ash Wednesday:
Today’s Gospel reminds us that all of our giving, whether of alms or of service, must always be done for love of God alone and not for the applause of our brothers and sisters.

LENTEN REGULATIONS

On Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent, the Church requests all over 14 years of age to abstain from meat.

On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, the Church requests all between the ages of 18 and 60 to fast, having one full meal and two smaller meals for nourishment and strength. Liquids are allowed throughout the day.

The Faithful enjoy freedom of conscience to excuse themselves from these regulations but, as the U.S. Bishops state, “No Catholic Christian will likely excuse themselves from so hallowed an obligation” on these days.
